Fun and Games Chess Birthday Card
This card features stamps from the “Game On” stamp set from Stampin’ Up (retired). Perfect set for the chess players in my family!
The chess pieces and greeting were stamped in Gina K Designs Charcoal Brown ink on Papertrey Ink Fine Linen card stock. The focal panel was embossed with the “Subtle” embossing folder from Stampin’ Up (retired), and the edges were roughed up using a Tonic paper distresser.
I cut 1 1/4″ squares from GKD Warm Cocoa card stock swiped with kraft ink and Fine Linen card stock to create the chess board pieces. Dark Chocolate card stock was used for the mats.
Yeah, another brown card… lol!
I’m always amazed at how quickly Stampin’ Up retires so many of their products. I feel I am constantly adding “retired” after SU products I use. Thank goodness for ebay!
Thanks for checking out my card project!

Fun card! They retire quickly, which is unfortunate.

This is great. Perfect for any chess player. Love the chess board you created. I agree SU does retire things much too quickly especially their colors.

This is a fabulous and clever card. I love the whole design and wish I had the stamp set. As for retiring things often – it is all about the dollar. More stuff, more sales.
