(Click HERE for original card post.)

I recently posted a card project where I made a rolled frame.  The rolled frame is a technique I learned at a workshop given by Quick Quotes Scrapbook Company at the Scrapbook Expo in Somerset, NJ in 2015.  This is the mixed media project (on a 12×12 inch canvas) that we made using the “Moments Like This” kit that they make and sell:

Here’s a quick tutorial on how to make it: Continue reading

Rolled Frame Wedding Card

Rolled Frame Wedding Card

Rolled Frame Wedding Card zzDSC_3028.jpg

This wedding card is the third sample in my “Navy, Gray, Ivory, Lace, and Burlap” collection – and yes, I was able to work burlap into this design!

The patterned paper is called Gold Wedding Words by the Paper Studio from Hobby Lobby.  The light gray is Bazzill Tiara, and the dark gray (tuxedo) is Core’dinations Charcoal.  The Paper Studio White Pearl was used for the dress, shirt and pearls.  The tan and navy card stock was open stock purchased at Hobby Lobby, but there were no names on the rack or on the paper.  The burlap and lace ribbon is also by the Paper Studio from Hobby Lobby.

The bride and groom hearts are adapted from files I purchased in the Silhouette store.  The groom is called “Heart Wedding Favor Groom (design #89612)”, and the bride is called “Heart Wedding Favor Bride (design #89609).  Both are by Lori Whitlock. Continue reading

As I mentioned in my last post, I was asked by a woman to make a custom wedding card for her daughter who is getting married in a few weeks.  I wanted to make a few different samples since I wasn’t sure exactly what she wanted.  This is sample number 2.

This card is called a Cascade Card.  It folds flat for mailing, but the interlocking panels can be pulled out slightly when displaying it to add interest and depth. Continue reading

Banquet Table Decoration

Banquet Table Decoration

wDSC_2994.jpg

My daughter, Kelly, has played volleyball all through high school, and at the end of each season, the team has a banquet to honor the players and celebrate the season.  This year, the mom organizing the banquet asked me to help her with the centerpieces for the tables.  She had seen the idea of using a volleyball as the “vase” for the flowers (HERE) and wanted to put something in each one that had the name of each of the graduating seniors.  I created the die cut name picks with my Silhouette electronic die cutting machine.

I created 3 different styles with silhouettes of players either digging, hitting/spiking, or serving the ball. Here are samples of the other two:

I adapted the design from a basketball image I had seen (and purchased) HERE, and used the pennant from this image.  Two of the player silhouettes were from a file called “Volleyball Set (design ID #89100)”  by StudioIlustrado, and the volleyball image was from the “Volleyball Outline (design ID# 10762)” file by Snapdragon Snipets.  Both were purchased from the Silhouette store.  The dig image was from a google image and “traced” in the Silhouette software.  The names were cut with my Silhouette using the “text” option and the Marketing Script font.

I believe fresh flowers will be used on the evening of the banquet (in mid November), but I used silk roses for my sample.  I chose to do everything in red and white since those are the school colors.

The Mod Squad Challenge this week is “ABC”..where we are to create Anything But a Card.  (Sadly, this site is no longer active.)

Lace Wedding Cake Pop-Up Card zDSC_2859.jpg

I was asked by a woman to make a custom wedding card for her daughter who is getting married in a few weeks.  The color scheme of the wedding is navy, grey, ivory, and burlap, and her daughter is wearing an ivory lace dress.  She liked the pop-up cake card I made a while back (HERE) so I thought I’d make a sample of one with these colors.
