A Few Simple Birthday Cards

A Few Simple Birthday Cards

zDSC_7280.jpg

I enjoy making cards with fancy folds, interactive elements or some other creative technique.  Sometimes, however, it’s fun to get back to basics and focus on the stamps and ink.  Here are a few simple cards I made with some stamp sets that I had purchased a few months ago but hadn’t used yet.

Gorgeous Grunge Birthday Card

xDSC_7302

(Inside: Wishing you all the best today and throughout the coming year)

This card was made with various stamps from the “Gorgeous Grunge” set from Stampin’ Up and the “Celebrate” stamp from Hampton Art.  Stampin’ Up Soft Suede and Mint Macaron ink was used.  Card stock was SU Mint Macaron, Gina K Dark Chocolate, and white.  The inside sentiment was from the “Happy Birthday to You” set by Gina K Designs.

I don’t think I’ve ever created such a “grungy” card before. It was fun, and really liked the way it came out.  I got mixed reviews from my family though.  Oh well….

Happy Birthday with Swishes of Color

xDSC_7283.jpg

(Inside: Sending you Warmest Wishes on your special day.)

This next card features an embossing folder from the Sizzix/Stampin’ Up “Celebrations Duo” set.  The “Happy” is debossed so when the swishes of color are stamped over it, the ink stays on the flat portion of the card but does not get into the indented portion.  I used a stamp from the “Tiny Textures” set from Gina K Designs to create the swishes of color.  The “Birthday” stamp is from the Gina K “Winter Block” set.  The stamp on the inside is called “Sending Wishes” by Stampendous.  Papertrey Ink Soft Stone and Gina K Blue Denim ink was used with white and Blue Denim card stock.  (For some reason, my camera can’t see that the blue ink and paper are the same color.  Hmmm….)

Cake Crazy Birthday Card

wDSC_7291

(Inside:  May your birthday be filled with love, laughter and everything that makes you happy)

This final card was made with stamps from the “Cake Crazy” set from Stampin’ Up.  The set contains a number of angled stamps in a variety of shapes and words (along with multi-step layers) so lots of different crazy cakes can be created in all kinds of color combinations.  Gina K Blue Denim and white card stock was used as well as a few sheets from “The Birthday Wishes Stack” paper pad by DCWV.  For ink, I used Gina K Wild Dandelion, Blue Denim, and Blue Raspberry.

Once Upon A Time Anniversary Card

Once Upon A Time Anniversary Card

I recently posted Peek-A-Boo graduation cards for my kids, and here is another one I made for my parents’ 55th wedding anniversary.  When you open the card, the wedding day image from the front “transforms” into a photo of my mom and dad now.

I used Gina K Lovely Lavender and white card stock along with “Fancy Swirl Foiled – Silver” card stock from The Paper Studio.  The sentiment (inside and front) was computer generated.  To create the frames and openings, I used a die from the Spellbinders “Artist Trading Cards” set (S3-208) and a We R Memory Keepers Frame Punch Board.

There is lots of shine on this card!

HERE is a video tutorial from You Tube that shows how to create this type of card.

Class of 2017 CAS Graduation Card

Class of 2017 CAS Graduation Card

wDSC_7204

(Inside: May you celebrate your graduation remembering special memories from your past and exciting dreams for your future.  Happy Graduation.)

This clean and simple graduation card features a greeting from the “Curly Cute” set (retired?) by Stampin’ Up that was stamped with versafine onyx black ink.  The “Class of 2017” was a digital image I found online (although I am no longer seeing it there).  I found the same image on etsy (for 2018) HERE by createsvg4you.  The sentiment inside was by Northwoods Rubber Stamps.

The white panel on the front was embossed with a Sizzix/Stampin’ Up “Stripes” embossing folder.

You may recognize the elements on this card from one I recently posted:

My kids had gone through a whole bunch of cards for their friends, and we still needed more!  (I guess with three of them, there is a larger need than usual!!)  I still had the supplies out for this photo card, so I whipped up a few of these CAS cards for them to give.

This next card is similar to the cards above, so I decided to add it to this post instead of a new one:

This is the last 2017 graduation-related card I have to share.  It features the same robot that I’ve used on a few other cards that I made for my sons’ robotics club advisor who did an amazing job running the club at their school.  It just so happens that he was also a parent of one of the kids on their team, and he and his wife drove my guys (and their team) to most of the competitions for the 4 years they competed in the club.  Now that they graduated, I made the robot graduating too!

The robot was a Silhouette file that I adapted for each of the cards on which he appeared.  The cap and gown were from an svg kit called “Graduation Elements” from svgcuts.  The thank you stamp is another stamp from the “Curly Cute” set from Stampin’ Up.

Gina K Red Velvet, white and black card stock were used along with Recollections silver.

Foiled Graduation Cards

Foiled Graduation Cards

xDSC_7183.jpg

(Inside:  Sincere Congratulations and Best Wishes on your Graduation Day.  May the future hold success and happiness for you.  Happy Graduation)

As I mentioned yesterday, my kids needed quite a few graduation cards for their friends this past spring/summer, and I made several, simple designs that were easy to duplicate.  I had never done foiling before, so I thought I’d give that a try.

Here is a sample made with silver foil.

xDSC_7174

Etsy , with its huge supply of digital papers and images, is a great source for elements to print and foil (if you have access to a laser printer).  You can find a huge variety of designs in a range of prices, and once you own the files, you can print as many as you like, as often as you like.

I created the background panels from a file from the “Graduation Digital Paper Pack” by DeerCustomDesigns.  I imported the image into Printshop and added the blank text box in the center so I could stamp my greeting.  Once the panel was designed, I printed multiple copies with my laser printer (foil transfers to toner but not ink), trimmed them to size, and foiled the panels with either Gina K Red Velvet Fancy Foils or Therm O Web Silver Deco Foil and my mini Heidi Swapp MINC foiling machine.  (A laminator can also be used.)

The greeting on the front is by Rubber Stamped.  The inside sentiment is from Northwoods Rubber Stamps.  I used Gina K Red Velvet, black and white card stock.  The foiled panel is on laser printer paper from Staples.

The frame on the first sample was created with my We R Memory Keepers Frame Punch Board.

This background is from the “Black and White Digital Paper Pack” by LittlePandaDreams also purchased on Etsy.  This could be used for a number of occasions.

Glittery Graduation Card

Glittery Graduation Card

wwDSC_7125.jpg

(Inside: May you celebrate your graduation remembering special memories from your past and exciting dreams for your future.  Happy Graduation.)

My kids had quite a few graduation parties to attend this past spring/summer so I came up with a few designs that were easy to duplicate.  Most of the graduates were from their high school where the colors are red and white so I went with those colors for most of the cards I created.

This first design (of several) was made with glitter card stock along with fabric graduation cap stickers.

In addition to graduates from their school, there were a few graduates from different schools, with different colors, so I used different glitter card stock for theirs.  (It’s hard to see the shine on the  black and white sample.)  This design was very easy to customize!

wDSC_7126    wDSC_7129

The red and black glitter card stock was by Recollections, and the blue was by DCWV.  The stickers were called “Black Graduation Caps” (#SPJBLG229) from Jolee’s Boutique.  I used a score board to emboss diagonal lines to frame my greeting which was by Rubber Stamped.  The stars were cut with 2 different star punches (#03-026386 and #03-026382) that were designed to cut thick materials by Fiskars.   The frame was created with my We R Memory Keepers Frame Punch Board.  The inside sentiment was a stamp by Northwoods Rubber Stamps.
