Heartfelt Thanks

In a recent post, I shared a sympathy card I had made with just the outline stamp of one of the two-step images from the “Heartfelt Thanks” stamp set from Stampin’ Up. Here is a card I made where I added color with the corresponding solid filler stamp.

I used Tim Holtz Aged Mahogany and Forest Moss distress markers to ink the outline stamps. The solid stamp and greeting were inked with Forest Moss and Victorian Velvet distress ink. (I created masks of the stem/leaves and of the petals so I could stamp each part separately to add two colors.) I spritzed ink from the Forest Moss marker onto the stamped panel with my Tim Holtz marker spritzer tool.

The greeting is from the “Fabulous Flowers” set from Gina K Designs. Card stock is GKD Dark Sage and white. The printed paper is “Tan Floral Tapestry” by Paper Pizazz – Hot Off The Press.

The stamped panel was cut and embossed with a die from the Spellbinders “Classic Rectangles Large” set.

The greeting on this one is from the “With Love and Prayers” set from Gina K Designs.

Water Colored Hearts

I saw this patterned paper by American Crafts (#320318) and fell in love with it! I matted it on Gina K Edible Eggplant and a white card base. I added a piece of Offray Ribbon, squares of the Edible Eggplant and white card stock cut with dies from the “Stitched Squares” set by Gina Marie Designs, and a heart cut from a scrap of the patterned paper and the smallest heart from the “Nellie’s Choice Multi Frame, Hearts” die set by Ecstasy Crafts (#MF0060). Quick and easy!

Penn Shaker Thank You Card

I’ve designed several Penn-themed thank you cards over the past few years and found myself needing another one recently. I decided to go with a shaker card design for this one.

I hand-cut the split P from a piece of a rubber sheet (used to make custom gaskets) and mounted the pieces on EZ Mount Foam. I stamped the two parts of my hand-made stamp on Gina K ivory card stock with Gina K In the Navy and Cranberry Tart ink. I used a Tim Holtz Chipped Sapphire distress marker and the Tim Holtz marker spritzer tool to create the speckles.

The “thanks” was cut with the “In A Word: Thanks Cutaway” die (#WW031CA) from Winnie & Walter.

I used the “Die-namics Gift Card Window & Frame” die set and a plastic “Gift Card Pouch” to create the shaker portion of the card.

The red and blue paper is called “Patriotic Stripe” from Hot Off The Press and coordinated nicely with the red and blue sequins I found online. Gina K Ivory and In the Navy card stock was also used.

Sketched Sympathy

This card features a stamp from the “Heartfelt Thanks” set from Stampin’ Up (retired). The set has several two-step floral images with sketchy outlines and corresponding solid fillers that look water colored when stamped. I wanted to try out different color combinations so I arranged the stamps on my MISTI to make it easier to line up the layers. While playing, I noticed that the outline by itself looked so elegant and seemed perfect for a sympathy card. I added the greeting, layered the panels and ended up with this CAS design.

The greeting is from the “Love and Prayers” set from Gina K Designs and was stamped with Gina K Edible Eggplant ink. Card stock is GKD Edible Eggplant, cream from the Recollections “Coffee and Cream” heavy weight pack, and water color paper.

The stamped panel was cut and embossed with a die from the Spellbinders “Classic Rectangles Large” set.

The current Mod Squad Challenge is “Simply Clean” where we are encouraged to “make a Clean and Simple card. Clean and simple means there is a LOT of blank space, typically white, but I suppose you could use any color. Other than the focal, there is nothing on the card, except a greeting if you want. No embellishments or extras of any kind.” (Sadly, this site is no longer active.)

Congratulations, Eagle Scout!

One of the things I love about card making is being able to customize a card to fit any occasion, situation, or subject. My friend’s son was being honored for the well-deserved achievement of becoming an Eagle Scout, and I was invited to his Court of Honor. I needed a card to fit the occasion but saw nothing in my travels that was made just for congratulating scouts. It was great to be able to come up with something that worked, and I had a lot of fun making it!

I started with the digital paper/image from Ladybird Press called “Boy Scout Oath Print” that I purchased on Etsy. At my request, the shop owner was nice enough to also send me the blank wood-grained background file (without the words) that I used for my greeting panel. Thanks, Carlee!!

I used Gina K Dark Chocolate and Sandy Beach card stock for the card base and mats.

I purchased the Eagle Scout sticker on ebay, but the colors did not match those on the background that well, so I scanned and printed the sticker image on a piece of vellum, cut it out, and glued it to a piece of Gina K Sandy Beach card stock. The color of the card stock through the vellum made the whites of the original sticker more of an off-white and dulled the reds and blues to be closer to the background. I cut a frame with dies from the Spellbinders Classic Ovals (large and small) sets out of the Dark Chocolate and adhered it on top of the vellum to hide the glue dots that were visible around the edges.

The greeting stamp originally said, “Congratulations, You did it!” (unknown brand). I cut the stamp apart and used the “You did it!” half on the inside of the card. Both were stamped with Gina K Dark Chocolate ink.
