The New Normal

As is the norm at the moment, everyone in my family is now home – either working or “attending classes” remotely. As a result, my craft room has become an additional “classroom” for two of my sons (who share a room) when they have live or simultaneous online classes and need privacy/quiet. This will go on for the remainder of the semester.

I’ve not been feeling very creative lately, and with reduced access to my room and supplies, it will be even more challenging to get back on track so if it seems like I am missing in action, that is why. I am hopeful that this will change as I adjust to (and work around) their class schedules and settle in to this new normal. Until then, I am enjoying the projects you all are posting and appreciate the inspiration.

I am feeling very thankful that my family is healthy and can be together during this difficult time. Praying for an end to this health crisis and that you and your families are all well.

Painted Petals Birthday Card

Painted Petals Birthday Card

This simple card features stamps from the “Painted Petals” stamp set from Stampin’ Up (retired?).

The greeting is from the “Banners” set from Joy! Crafts. I used Gina K Designs Fresh Asparagus ink and Peach Bellini ink and card stock. I stamped my images on water color paper for a bit of texture.

CAS Framed Tulip Thanks

A few die cuts and some “smooshed” ink….

I just love the delicate Tulip Frame Die by My Creative Time. (The set also includes dies to create an additional layer/color of just the petals/cups.)

(The “thanks” die was unbranded, but I’ve since found and purchased the “Gallery Frame 2” die set from Hello Bluebird which contains this “thanks” die, but bigger.)

I created my simple card with Mowed Lawn Distress ink (and water) and white card stock. You can see how I adhere intricate die cuts HERE.

A quick note:

I had been in Arizona for the last two weeks (spending time with my son who is there for Brewers’ spring training, catching a few games myself, and hiking/site seeing with my husband) and am just getting back in the swing of things here at home. While I was able to look at all the email notifications of the sites I follow on my phone, I was not able to leave comments for cards on blogspot sites. (I guess I wasn’t logged in properly or something?) Leaving comments on wordpress sites was possible, but I am a terrible “phone typist” so those were short! Anyway, I have enjoyed all the projects you all have been posting and look forward to using my computer (instead of my just phone) for checking out your projects going forward. As always, thanks for the inspiration, and thanks for visiting my site as well!

More Copper and Kraft (Valentine’s Day and Sympathy Cards)

I loved the combination of copper and Kraft so much and still had the supplies out on my desk after making my Copper Leaves card, so I decided to make a few more cards…

The sympathy card above was made with the “Magnolia Blossoms” stencil by Crafters Workshop (#TCW6X6-815S), gel medium, and Hero Arts Copper embossing powder. The greeting is from the “Sympathy Duo” stamp set from Gina K Designs (retired?) and was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink. The Kraft card stock was also from Gina K Designs.

This Valentine’s Day card was done by placing the “Flourish” stencil by Tim Holtz (THS-032) over a heart shaped mask cut with a die from the Ecstacy Crafts/Nellie Snellen Heart set MFD060 before applying the gel medium and copper embossing powder. The greeting is from a stamp set called “Sealed with a Kiss” by Paper Pretties (no longer available).

Diagonal Split Panel Valentine’s Day Card (and another CAS design)

This 5×7 Valentine’s Day card is similar to the diagonal split panel cards I posted previously and features the gorgeous patterned paper called “Moonstruck” by American Crafts (#320318) along with a greeting from the Hampton Art (SC0744) stamp (and die) set.

Diagonal split panel cards are quick and easy to make and can be adapted to any holiday or occasion by simply choosing different patterned paper, an appropriate greeting, and as many (or few) embellishments as desired.

Here is a video tutorial on how to do this technique, although as I mentioned in my previous post, I changed mine up a bit by matting my finished panel and changing the angle/measurements of my cuts. I’ve also seen variations where the solid panels are popped up with foam tape and where the center portion is hand-stamped.

This next card seemed too simple to get its own post – lol!

I whipped up a few of these “Clean and Simple” cards for my kids who think it kind of silly that I make and send them Valentine’s Day cards at all but who enjoy the “little something” I put inside – lol!

This A2 sized CAS card features the heart stamp from the Hero Arts “Stamp Your Story – Brush” set along with a greeting from the “Sealed With a Kiss” set from Paper Pretties (both no longer available). The texture stamp behind the heart was unmarked and was stamped off to keep it subtle.

Gina K Designs Soft Stone ink and Edible Eggplant card stock was used (not black as it appears in the photo!!) along with Blackberry Bliss ink from Stampin’ Up.
