Birthday Pop-Up Cake wDSC_3668

I made my original pop-up cake a while ago and kind of forgot about the die until I recently got a request for a custom pop-up wedding cake card.  Now that the die is out, I’ve been having fun making different cakes!  (I’m including two more of them in this post.)  My daughter needed an 18th birthday card for her friend so I created this “chocolate” one for her.

Here is the front of the card when it is closed:

(inside: wishing you a day filled with good things)

Ingredients for this card are listed at the bottom of this post.

“Anything Goes Birthday” is always the challenge over at Seize the Birthday  which is a bi-monthly challenge blog aimed at helping you get those birthday cards done.  This week’s  “toppings” option is to use a stencil, but I opted not to use one on this project.  Pop on over and check out the beautiful inspiration posted by the design team along with all the entries in the gallery.

The Mod Squad Challenge this week is called “Go For The Gold” where we are encouraged to, “Just put some gold on your project.  Lots or just a little.  It must be gold.”   (Sadly, this site is no longer active.)  I came across this glittery gold paper and thought it would make an elegant wedding or anniversary cake.

Here is the front of the card:

Ingredients:

As I mentioned in my earlier pop-up cake posts, I needed to design a custom envelope (box) to accommodate the bulkiness of this card, and it will need to be sent as a package (in a mailing box). Here is the envelope I designed:

The envelope can be left plain or can be customized to match the card inside.

Rolled Frame Wedding Card

This wedding card is the third sample in my “Navy, Gray, Ivory, Lace, and Burlap” collection – and yes, I was able to work burlap into this design!

The patterned paper is called Gold Wedding Words by the Paper Studio from Hobby Lobby.  The light gray is Bazzill Tiara, and the dark gray (tuxedo) is Core’dinations Charcoal.  The Paper Studio White Pearl was used for the dress, shirt and pearls.  The tan and navy card stock was open stock purchased at Hobby Lobby, but there were no names on the rack or on the paper.  The burlap and lace ribbon is also by the Paper Studio from Hobby Lobby.

The bride and groom hearts are adapted from files I purchased in the Silhouette store.  The groom is called “Heart Wedding Favor Groom (design #89612)”, and the bride is called “Heart Wedding Favor Bride (design #89609).  Both are by Lori Whitlock. Continue reading

As I mentioned in my last post, I was asked by a woman to make a custom wedding card for her daughter who is getting married in a few weeks.  I wanted to make a few different samples since I wasn’t sure exactly what she wanted.  This is sample number 2.

This card is called a Cascade Card.  It folds flat for mailing, but the interlocking panels can be pulled out slightly when displaying it to add interest and depth. Continue reading

Lace Pop-Up Wedding Cake Card

I was asked by a woman to make a custom wedding card for her daughter who is getting married in a few weeks.  The color scheme of the wedding is navy, grey, ivory, and burlap, and her daughter is wearing an ivory lace dress.  She liked the pop-up cake card I made a while back (HERE) so I thought I’d make a sample of one with these colors.
