This card features the “Country Nativity” stamp by Uptown Rubber Stamps (H29014).  The card base is a center step card; I used the template with measurements found HERE.

Center Step Template

The image was stamped on white card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic Markers [Mary’s Clothes (B95, B97, E41), Joseph’s Clothes (E43, E47), Jesus  (E42), Skin (E00), Hair (E44),  Stable (E44, E47), Cow (E42, E41, B95), Goat (E41, E43), Sheep (E40, E43), Staff (E47), Stars (Y23), Bird (E18), Branch G29)].

The card base is Gina K heavy base weight white.  The brown printed card stock is from the Collectable collection by My Mind’s Eye called Unforgetable “Happiness” Delight Paper.  It is two sided, and I used both sides.  The blue card stock (mat and inside panel) is called “Winter Freeze” by Melissa Frances.

Raffia and jute was also used.

The Mod Squad Challenge this week is called Teacher’s Pet where we are encouraged to use a pet or animal on our creation.  (Sadly, this site is no longer active.)

Waterfall Cards

Waterfall Cards

Baby Waterfall Cards DSCN5679.JPG

My last post was of a Mother’s Day waterfall card, and I realized that I had made a few others that I had never posted here so I thought I’d share them now.  (These were previously posted in my StampTV gallery.)

The baby cards shown above were made using svg files from the “Waterfall Cards SVG Kit” from SVGCuts and my Silhouette electronic die cutting machine.  The problem with posting things so long after they were made is that it’s hard to remember the actual papers and supplies that were used!  The good news is that you can use any paper for these projects, and they’d still be adorable!

Monkey Waterfall Thank You Note.jpg

I created this next one as a thank you note to send for my triplets’ birthday a few years back.   For this one, I used one of the files from the same “Waterfall Card SVG Kit”  (just to create the basic card base) along with the “Steve the Monkey” file from the “free designs” collection at SVGCuts.  I  changed the waterfall portion to have two sections instead of four, and  I adapted his head so his mouth would open when the ribbon was pulled, revealing the sentiment.

This final sample was a card I made (and taught) for one of the Holiday Card Classes offered at Michaels in 2013.  This class was called  “Vintage Holiday Card Tricks Class” and featured distressing techniques, heat embossing, and using Sizzix dies with the Big Kick.  We created this waterfall card along with two others that you can see HERE.  I did not design these cards; the lesson plans were provided.

Vintage Waterfall Card

Vintage Waterfall Card

A Waterfall Card is an interactive card that has a strip with cascading images.  When you pull on a tab, you can make hidden messages or images appear, while pieces of card stock fold over and look like a waterfall.

HERE is a tutorial for making one.

I created this vintage style waterfall card with a Mother’s Day greeting..  The “Happy Mother’s Day” greeting appears, along with a new image, when the tab is pulled.

For this project, I used paper from two digital paper packs I purchased on Etsy.  The floral background paper is from the “Floral Digital Paper Pack” (006) by AphroditaShop.  The images on the waterfall panels are from the “Vintage Ephemera Digital Paper Pack” by VintageLeChocolate.  The solid card stock was Gina K Innocent Pink and Sandy Beach.  Inks used were Gina K Innocent Pink, Warm Cocoa, and Kraft. The “Happy Mother’s Day” stamp is by Studio G, and I used the Stampendous Marble Texture Cube stamp on the greeting panels.  Recollection brads and some kraft ink on the edges added to the vintage look of the card.

Golf Cart Box Card

Golf Cart Box Card

This golf cart box card is from the Father’s Day Box Cards SVG Kit by SVGCuts. The kit contains several different box card projects with themes that are perfect for Father’s Day or that could be used year round.  In addition to this golf cart card, there is a baseball themed card, a toolbox card, a BBQ grill card, and a generic card with stars.  The kit contains the svg files that you can cut with your electronic die cutting machine, and you can choose the papers and embellishments. Once all the pieces are cut out, you assemble them into an amazing dimensional card!  A tutorial VIDEO is provided to make assembly a breeze.

What I love about box cards is that they fold flat to fit into a regular envelope, and depending on the embellishments that you choose, they may not even require extra postage (if you make them light and flat enough).

The patterned paper and printed card stock I used was Authentique “Durable” from the Loyal collection, “Green Plaid” by Paper Pizazz – Hot Off The Press, “Persnickety Finicky” by lilybeedesign, and Recollections silver shimmer card stock.  The textured white was the back of some scraps of printed paper I had in my stash.  The brown card stock was from the open stock at AC Moore (not sure of the name; no label).  The textured-looking metalic silver was from the “Silver Textured Foil” digital paper set by ScubamouseStudiosJr which I purchased on Etsy.  I also used Recollections green from their Christmas cardstock pack and Gina K Cherry Red.

I used the Sizzix Dot Matrix embossing folder to add the dimples to the golf balls and two Recollections brads on the wheels.

I found the score card on google and stamped “fore you” with Gina K Grass Green ink.  This stamp is from the CC Designs “Just Fore You” set.

There is a plain panel on the back where you could stamp or write a message and sign your name.  The sentiment I used is from the “And Many Mower” set (retired?) from Stampin’ Up, and was stamped with Gina K Green Grass ink.  (This stamp set also contains a “Happy Father’s Day” stamp which I also used in place of the “Happy Birthday” on a few cards.)

Pleated Skirt Fold – Mother’s Day Card

Pleated Skirt Fold – Mother’s Day Card

Pleated Skirt Fold Mother's Day Card yyDSC_0352.jpg

I was asked to co-host the Mod Squad Challenge again this week with the very talented Peggy Timmerman.  The theme of the challenge is MOTHER’S DAY.  (Sadly, this site is no longer active.)

For this card sample, I used two stamps from the Newton’s Nook Designs – Versatile Vases stamp set along with a die from the Gina Marie Designs – Stitched Rectangle Dies set and the Happy Mother’s Day border die by Lawn Fawn. All of these items are available at Kat Scrappiness who is one of the Mod Squad Challenge sponsors this week .

Versatile Vases Stamp Set

Kat stocks the products that she loves and uses as well as what her customers request.  If you don’t see it in her store, feel free to contact her.  She is happy to do special orders for you!  And she offers a DISCOUNT CODE for The Mod Squad Challenge: MSC10!

I had recently seen a card made with the Pleated Skirt Fold technique and thought I’d give it a try. For this technique, a two-sided piece of patterned paper works best since you see both patterns once the pleats are created.  I started with a 5 1/2 x 12 inch panel and scored it at 1 then 1/2 inch intervals.  (I wanted a tall panel with narrow pleats.)  HERE is the tutorial I found and adapted for my measurements.  The two-sided patterned paper I used is called “Mail Poste Correo” from the “From Me to You” collection by Pebbles.  The “white” on this paper was not pure white so I created my own matching card stock by coloring a plain piece of white card stock with Copic W1 for the stamped panel and the die cut greeting.  (The greeting die cut was cut apart so it would fit in the space on the bottom corner of the card.)

I stamped the flowers and vase with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with Copic Markers (BG78, V000, and R14).

I also created a mat for my card front by coloring the edges of a plain white piece of card stock with Copic Marker (BG78) to match the vase.  This panel was adhered to a white card base.

Here is another sample with different paper and a different stamp:

For this one, I used the tulip stamp from the Lawn Fawn – Fairy Friends stamp set along with a die from the Gina Marie Designs – Stitched Square Dies set and the Happy Mother’s Day border die by Lawn Fawn.  All of these items are also available at Kat Scrappiness.

The two-sided patterned paper is called “Garden Walk” from the Happy Day collection by Pebbles.  The tulip was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic Markers (YG03, YG93, and R14).  I placed a piece of vellum behind my stamped panel to “separate” it from the busy background.

Now it’s your turn!  Head on over to the Mod Squad Challenge Blog, and show us your Mother’s Day projects. I can’t wait to see what you create!
