Cascade Wedding Card

Cascade Wedding Card

Cascade Wedding Card wwDSC_3119.jpg

As I mentioned in my last post, I was asked by a woman to make a custom wedding card for her daughter who is getting married in a few weeks.  I wanted to make a few different samples since I wasn’t sure exactly what she wanted.  This is sample number 2.

This card is called a Cascade Card.  It folds flat for mailing, but the interlocking panels can be pulled out slightly when displaying it to add interest and depth. Continue reading

Banquet Table Decoration

Banquet Table Decoration

wDSC_2994.jpg

My daughter, Kelly, has played volleyball all through high school, and at the end of each season, the team has a banquet to honor the players and celebrate the season.  This year, the mom organizing the banquet asked me to help her with the centerpieces for the tables.  She had seen the idea of using a volleyball as the “vase” for the flowers (HERE) and wanted to put something in each one that had the name of each of the graduating seniors.  I created the die cut name picks with my Silhouette electronic die cutting machine.

I created 3 different styles with silhouettes of players either digging, hitting/spiking, or serving the ball. Here are samples of the other two:

I adapted the design from a basketball image I had seen (and purchased) HERE, and used the pennant from this image.  Two of the player silhouettes were from a file called “Volleyball Set (design ID #89100)”  by StudioIlustrado, and the volleyball image was from the “Volleyball Outline (design ID# 10762)” file by Snapdragon Snipets.  Both were purchased from the Silhouette store.  The dig image was from a google image and “traced” in the Silhouette software.  The names were cut with my Silhouette using the “text” option and the Marketing Script font.

I believe fresh flowers will be used on the evening of the banquet (in mid November), but I used silk roses for my sample.  I chose to do everything in red and white since those are the school colors.

The Mod Squad Challenge this week is “ABC”..where we are to create Anything But a Card.  (Sadly, this site is no longer active.)

I was asked by a woman to make a custom wedding card for her daughter who is getting married in a few weeks.  The color scheme of the wedding is navy, grey, ivory, and burlap, and her daughter is wearing an ivory lace dress.  She liked the pop-up cake card I made a while back (HERE) so I thought I’d make a sample of one with these colors. Wine Note Card

Wine Note Card

Wine Note Card yyyDSC_1975

This clean and simple note card features the “Wine, Vine, Bottle, Grape, and Glass” custom rubber stamp by wood Q.

I really loved this image when I saw it on amazon, but I did not realize, when I ordered it, that the image itself is the negative (recessed) and that you are really stamping the background.  I actually really love the look of this negative image, but because there is so much rubber, I needed to use my MISTI to stamp several times to get the nice solid image you see on the card.  And in case you are wondering, the actual size of the stamped image is 3.5cm x 5.9cm (1 3/8″ x 2 5/16″) and not 16 square kilometer to 20 square kilometer as listed!

I stamped my image onto a white piece of card stock with Papertrey Ink Scarlet Jewel ink and used the coordinating Scarlet Jewel card stock for the large mat.

A Merry Little Wish

(inside: for lots of joy at Christmas)

The layout for this card was inspired by this sketch from Mojo Monday:

Mojo Monday 462

The stamped images are from the “Festival of Trees” set (retired?) from Stampin’ Up.  The Christmas tree was stamped with Gina K Kraft ink and the greeting with Charcoal Brown.

The card base and all the mats are Recollections Kraft card stock.  The inside panel is Gina K Designs Sandy Brown.  All the patterned papers are by “The Paper Studio” from Hobby Lobby – Gold Wedding Stripes, Gold Wedding Ornate, Gold Wedding Texture, and Antique Brocade.

The circles were cut with dies from the Spellbinders “Standard Circles” (large and small) sets.  I created cut files for the tree and its mat which were cut on my Silhouette.  I used a personal trimmer for the rest of the panels.

I made boxed sets of this card design.  A lot of cutting and pasting!!
