Graduation Bridge Card

My Nephew is graduating from high school today – Congratulations, Tim!! This is the card I made for him.

The “Celebrate Edger” die (CEDPC1069) from Creative Expressions was used for the bridge.

I wanted to create the illusion of a group of graduates in the background, and Taylored Expression’s “Graduation Border” die is great for that. (Unfortunately, real groups of graduates are not possible at this time; like most, Tim’s graduation ceremony is virtual. I think his school is trying for a modified “in person” ceremony of some sort later in the summer.)

The side panels were embossed with the “Graduation Hat Background” embossing folder by Darice.

The “Class of 2020” panel was a digital file from geographics.com that I sized and printed from my Silhouette software. It was cut with an pierced rectangle die (unbranded).

The stamp on the back is the “Culmination Graduation Greeting” stamp from DRS Designs.

The base for this bridge card was made with a 10 1/2 x 5 inch piece of heavyweight card stock that was scored at 1 3/4, 3 1/2, 7, and 8 3/4. When folded flat, this card measures 5 x 7 inches and fits in an A7 size envelope.

Floral Swing Card

Recently, I posted a project using the Vase Builder Punch and stamps from the “Varied Vases” set, both from Stampin’ Up. While I had these on my desk, I thought I’d play around with some paper piecing and the Sizzix “Square Flip-its #2” die set to create a swing card.

The patterned paper is from the DCWV “Posh & Pink” premium stack. I used the punch for the vase but had to “fussy cut” the blooms. (This punch coordinates with a few of the stamps in the “Varied Vases” stamp set but not all.)

The inside sentiment is from the “Lovely Little Wreath” set which was part of the Stampin’ Up Paper Pumpkin April 2016 kit. It (and the flowers on the front) were stamped with GKD Soft Stone ink.

The Flip-its die set cuts (and scores) the base and the decorative panels so this card went together pretty quickly. I like way the center panel swings over when the card is opened, but I’m not sure how I feel about the way this card looks when it sits on a table to be displayed. Hmmm…

Goodbye Sassy Cheryl’s – Snowman Wiper Card (and some other sites to find digital stamps)

Happy New Year!

Digital stamps are images you download and print from your computer to use on your cards/projects. You can color them (just like with traditional line art image stamps), but since they are digital, you can also size them to suit your needs.

The snowman on the wiper card above is a digital image from an online shop called Sassy Cheryl’s (that, sadly, just closed down). What I loved about the images on that site (besides that I thought they were adorable) is that most were also available as pre-colored illustrations so if you didn’t want to color the images yourself, you could just print them in color and use them as is. The image used on the card above is the pre-colored version of “Fa-la-la-la Snowman” and was “traced and cut” with my Silhouette electronic die cutting machine. And while this site is no longer operational, there are lots of other companies/shops that offer digital stamps (some pre-colored).

Etsy is a great place to begin looking.

The digital paper I used is called “Snowflake Background – Snowy Paper” by SBdigitalDesigns from Etsy. The “Festive Mini Expressions – Warmest Wishes” die from Creative Expressions was used for the pop-up greeting.

The following sample (previously posted here) shows how the wiper element works on my snowman card above and features another of Sassy Cheryl’s designs called Once Upon a Star Santa.

I colored this image myself and used a reindeer image from the “Reindeer” stamp and die cut set (#657780) from Hero Arts/Sizzix (retired) in place of the star in the original design.

Copper Nativity Easel Card

This card features the beautiful “Nativity Forest” die from Tutti Designs (Tutti-570). The die cut was cut from “Copper” card stock from Cardstock Warehouse’s Starstream Collection and backed with a piece “Chiffon Vintage” printed card stock by Bo Bunny (#12CV838). That was then matted on Gina K Designs Ivory and a Cranberry Tart base.

These stamps are from the “City of David” and “Christmas Joy” stamp sets (both retired?) from Gina K Designs. I heat embossed them with versamark ink and Hero Arts Copper embossing powder.

You can see the shine of the copper card stock better in this photo:

The die cut is about 3 7/8″ square so I was able to double mat it for a 4 1/4″ square card when folded flat which allowed me to use an A2 size envelope (with a little extra room on each side).

Practicing for the Big Night – Wiper Card

Here’s another holiday wiper card…

For this one, I used a digital image called “Once Upon a Star Santa” (no longer available) from Sassy Cheryl’s Illustrations (shop now closed). A flying reindeer appears when the card is pulled opened.

The reindeer is from the “Reindeer” stamp and die cut set (#657780) from Hero Arts/Sizzix (retired). He was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, cut with the included die, and colored with Copic markers (T2, T4, E43, E44, and a colorless blender).

The Santa image is available as both a line art image and a colored image. For this card, I used the line art image but CASED Chery’s colors. I flipped him to be facing towards the left and colored him with Copic markers : hat, pants, and fur – R46, R56, R59, G24, G29, E43, E44, 0; jacket – C3, C4, C5, C7, 0, E47: Boots – T2, T3, T4, C7; hair – T0, E42; Skin – E50, E21, E13; reins – E23, E25, E27, E29). It has been a while since I did any coloring, and I really enjoyed it! I used my Silhouette software to trace and cut him out.

The greeting die cut is the “Festive Mini Expressions – Ho Ho Ho” by Sue Wilson/Creative Expressions.

The patterned paper is from a digital file called “Snowy Paper” by SBDigitalDesigns that I purchased on Etsy.

This A2 size card has room on the back for a handwritten or stamped message and folds flat for mailing.

Here is a slight variation using the pre-colored version of the Santa image:

The “holiday cheer” die cut is from the Sizzix “Christmas Tree Flip and Fold” set (#662281), and the speech bubble is from the Spellbinders “Tag That!” set (SCD-022) (trimmed to fit).
