Spring Blossoms Mother’s Day Box Card

Spring Blossoms Mother’s Day Box Card

I have another holiday project to share in honor of the “Your Favourite Holiday” challenge over at Die Cut Divas  where they have monthly challenges where all cards/projects must be made using at least one die cut or embossing folder.  (Click  HERE to see all the challenge rules.)  I created this box card for Mother’s Day.

One of my favorite sites for svg files is svgcuts.com.  Leo and Mary create such beautiful project files with amazing samples and tutorials for assembling the projects. This beautiful box card is from the “Spring Blossoms SVG Kit” which you can see HERE.  The kit contains several Asian-inspired projects for Spring or any time of year. Projects include a paper lantern which has a reinforced hole in the back for plug-in lights or a battery operated tea light, a beautiful tiered pagoda that could be used as a very fancy gift box or centerpiece (for a spring wedding perhaps!), and several card designs.  They provide the svg files that you can cut with your electronic die cutting machine, and you choose the papers and embellishments.  Once all the pieces are cut out, you assemble them into beautiful projects. The tutorial VIDEO makes assembly a breeze!

I loved the colors in the sample and used similar colors for my card.   The card stock I used was Core’dinations April Lovely and Nutmeg.  The printed paper was Sandy Lion Pink Flowers.  The greeting was heat embossed with versamark ink and and Tsukineko silver embossing powder.  (I can’t seem to locate the stamp I used but will keep looking and will include it here when it turns up!)  Recollections adhesive rhinestones and a Creative Memories Precious Elements (silver) Pen were used to add a touch of sparkle to the centers of the blossoms.

When open, the card stands like a box, but it closes flat for easy mailing.  There is room on the back of the box to add a panel of plain paper with a sentiment and signatures.

Baby Crib Box Card

Baby Crib Box Card

Well, Mary and Leo have done it again!  This adorable crib box card is from the svgcuts “Tiny Miracle SVG Kit” which you can see HERE.  The kit contains several adorable baby-themed projects including cards, a scrapbook layout, a diaper castle, and a bottle shaped gift box.  They provide the svg files that you can cut with your electronic die cutting machine, and you choose the papers and embellishments.  Once all the pieces are cut out, you assemble them into these amazing, handmade gifts for your next baby shower or to celebrate the birth of a new baby!  A tutorial VIDEO is provided to make assembly a breeze.

I plan to use this “card” (which opens and stands as a 3-D crib or folds flat) as a gift card holder which I will tuck inside a traditional card (which you can see HERE).  However, there is a space on the back of the crib for writing or stamping a message so this “card” can stand alone as well.

I used the following paper and card stock for this girl-themed project: Core’dinations April Lovely, Colorbok Heidi Grace Designs bgirl buggy (double-sided), Melissa Frances Betty-Ann, Paper Pizazz green/pink plaid, Core’dinations light pink plaid, and white.  I inked the edges with Gina K Designs Bubblegum ink and used Copic Marker R83 for the bear’s face.  I added a few pink pearls to finish it off.

I also made a blue version of this project that I can use for an upcoming baby shower where a boy is expected.

The papers used on this one are: Core’dinations jaybird, Paper Pizazz mixing baby stars and moons (I think – I only have one sheet and cut through the paper description!), Colorbok blue stripe paper, Core’dinations light blue small dot, and white.  I used Gina K Designs In the Navy ink for the edges on this card.

O Holy Night Step Card

O Holy Night Step Card

O Holy Night Card.jpg

This step card was made with elements from two kits from svgcuts called “Edisto Island Cards Svg Kit” (for the step card itself) and “O Holy Night Svg Kit” (for the nativity pieces). Click HERE to see the Edisto Island Kit and HERE to see the O Holy Night Kit at svgcuts.com.

These kits contains svg files of all of the pieces needed to create this card.  I used my Cricut Expression with my Sure Cuts A Lot 2 software, but I could have used my Silhouette or any electronic die cutting machine that can cut svg files.  I selected all of the paper I wished to use and set up all of the cut files on separate “pages” by grouping images based on the type of paper I wanted the pieces to be.  Once all of the pieces were cut out by my electronic die cutting machine, I assembled and glued everything together and ended up with this cute card!

I am entering this card in the Mod Squad – Word Challenge – Holiday where “anything that is holiday related is fair game!”  (Sadly, this site is no longer active.)
