Mother’s Day Tulips

Mother’s Day Tulips

wDSC_3368

This vase of tulips was made with the Vase Builder Punch and stamps from the “Varied Vases” set, both from Stampin’ Up.

The background panel was embossed with the “Spring Tulips” folder by Darice.

I used Scarlet Jewel ink and card stock from Papertrey ink along with Dark Sage ink from Gina K Designs.  Foam dots were used to raise up a few of the blooms and the vase.  The greeting is from the “Dressed to Impress” set from Stampin’ Up.

I didn’t have matching ribbon, so I created a faux ribbon with card stock and the Alison’s Ribbons Die from Cheery Lynn Designs (no longer available?).  Circles were cut with Spellbinders dies from the large and small circles sets.

Blue and White Birthday Wishes

Blue and White Birthday Wishes

wDSC_3340

I really like this “Floral Stem Collage” die by Poppystamps, but it was not at all what I was expecting when I ordered it!  I thought it cut a rectangular “framed” flower.  However, this die only cuts a negative image or “window” from wherever it is placed on a panel. On the sample above, I started with a 5 x 3 3/4 inch white panel and placed the die closer to the left side which left more white space for my greeting.  The blue mat panel can be seen through the “window” while also forming the border around the white.

I needed a rectangular die cut for a class I was teaching (we were working on creating mats/layers for card elements) and had purchased this die without realizing how it actually cut.  To fix this, I had to center the die on pre-cut 2 3/4″ x 4 1/4″ panels to create the “free-standing” rectangles.  A few more prep steps, but they worked out fine for the class….

The students were encouraged to add as many layers as desired.  These were some basic matting samples I used for the lesson:

The students were encouraged to change up their layouts and/or to add greetings and additional embellishments if they were feeling adventurous!  (The only “requirement” was that they matted the floral die in some way and created an A2 size card.)

Not cutting the outer border makes this die very flexible!  You just need to pay attention to the size of the panel from which you are cutting and the careful placement of the die on that panel.

Faux Framed Floral Card

Faux Framed Floral Card

(inside: Happy Mother’s Day)

I have been finding (and falling in love with!) some great older stamp sets on ebay.  The stamps on this card are from the “In Full Bloom” set from Stampin’ Up (retired).  I love the sketchy style of the images and the random dots on each of the stamps.

Gina K Designs Jet Black Amalgam ink was used for all the stamping.  The greeting is from the “Twig Wreath” set from Papertrey Ink.  I “scribbled” on my color to match the illustration style of the stamps using Copic Markers (TR15, E08, YG99, and W5). Black card stock was used to mat the focal panel.

The “frame” was created with the debossed side of the “Stately” embossing folder from Craft Concepts.  (I originally saw this folder used HERE where you can see what the embossed side looks like – thanks for the inspiration, Darnell!)  I think this folder (front or back) creates such a nice “finish” to CAS card designs!

The inside sentiment is from the “Lovely Little Wreath” set which was part of the Stampin’ Up Paper Pumpkin April 2016 kit (another “fun find” on ebay!).

Happy Birthday Shaker Card

I enjoy making (and shaking!) interactive shaker cards.  For this one, I glued a birthday greeting die cut and a stitched frame die cut to a piece of acetate and adhered this panel to two (layered) pieces of fun foam cut with the same frame die.  This panel was placed over loose sequins and adhered to the card front.  A pretty basic design, but fun to play with!

Pop-up Flower Pot Birthday Card

I used Karen Burniston’s “Flowerpot Pop-up” die set (#1010) to create this pot with flowers that pops up when the card is opened.  The die set comes with the dies to create the pop-up element, the pot, the flowers, the leaves, and a bee (which I did not use on this card).  These dies can be used to create either a flat flower pot design or the pop up design.  Theme, colors and size are up to you. (The bigger the card, the bigger/taller you can go with the bouquet.  My card is 5″ x 7″,  but an A2 size card will work if you are careful with how position your flowers and leaves.)

You can see Karen’s assembly tutorial HERE.  This card is not hard to make; there is just a lot of die cutting if you want a full pot – lol!

This card folds flat for mailing.

The water color patterned paper (#PPR3507) is by love nicole.  I also used Gina K Designs Grass Green, Warm Glow, Edible Eggplant, and Powder Blue card stock.

The Round Happy Birthday die used on the front is unbranded, and the stitched Nesting Square Parentheses inside can be found at Printable Heaven.  The sentiment is called “Special Day Wishes” (#573F) by DRS Designs and was stamped with GKD Edible Eggplant ink.
