Watering Can with Greenery – Water Colored Note Card

Still playing with the Art Impressions water color stamp sets I recently purchased…

I used Spectrum Aqua markers and water along with the following stamp sets:  Watercolor Starter Bundle (which includes the WC Decorative Jar Set – 5123, Foliage Set – 4051, and Flower Set – 4052), WC Foliage Set 4 (#5126), and Watering Can (#4761).  (While I love the little scene building stamps in these sets, any stamps and water based markers will work for this technique.)

The water colored panel was mounted on Gina K Designs Dusty Sage card stock (retired?) and a Recollections Ivory base.  The finished card is 4 1/4″ square.

Here’s one more sample using a pot from the WC Containers (#4111) set.

Flowers in Pitcher – Water Colored Note Card

In a recent post, I tried out a water color technique with stamps, markers, and water that I learned to do from this video (and several others in the AI Water Color series).  I was inspired to purchase some Art Impressions stamps from their water color line and had fun creating this card.

The Art Impressions stamps used for this card came from several sets:  Watercolor Starter Bundle (which includes the WC Decorative Jar Set – 5123, Foliage Set – 4051, and Flower Set – 4052), WC Foliage Set 4 (#5126), and WC Mini FLower Set (#5009).  (Each package has a water colored sample that may have been created with stamps from other sets; look carefully to see what is actually included in each set if interested in purchasing any of their stamps.)

I used water color paper, Spectrum Aqua markers (from various sets) as my paint, a no. 4 paint brush, and water.

The water colored panels were mounted on Gina K Designs Blue Denim card stock and a Recollections Ivory base.

Water Colored Lighthouse Scene

I recently viewed this video (and several others in the AI Water Color series) where stamps, markers, and water are used to create amazing water colored scenes and images.

I placed an order for some Art Impressions “scene building” water color stamps to try it out, but while I was waiting for those stamps to arrive, I decided to practice with a single scene stamp that I already owned just to get the feel of moving ink with water, and this is the card I created.

I used the lighthouse stamp (#97173-X) by Inkadinkado with Spectrum Aqua markers and water to create my water colored scene.  The stamp and paper were on my MISTI stamp positioner so I could work on small sections of the stamp at a time.

Here is a sample of the image just stamped in Onyx Black versafine ink.  You can see how “sketchy” the image is.  (I’m not sure if that made it easier or harder to get a good, water colored look.)

I am anxious to try this again with the scene building stamps when they arrive!
