Diagonal Split Panel Valentine’s Day Card (and another CAS design)

This 5×7 Valentine’s Day card is similar to the diagonal split panel cards I posted previously and features the gorgeous patterned paper called “Moonstruck” by American Crafts (#320318) along with a greeting from the Hampton Art (SC0744) stamp (and die) set.

Diagonal split panel cards are quick and easy to make and can be adapted to any holiday or occasion by simply choosing different patterned paper, an appropriate greeting, and as many (or few) embellishments as desired.

Here is a video tutorial on how to do this technique, although as I mentioned in my previous post, I changed mine up a bit by matting my finished panel and changing the angle/measurements of my cuts. I’ve also seen variations where the solid panels are popped up with foam tape and where the center portion is hand-stamped.

This next card seemed too simple to get its own post – lol!

I whipped up a few of these “Clean and Simple” cards for my kids who think it kind of silly that I make and send them Valentine’s Day cards at all but who enjoy the “little something” I put inside – lol!

This A2 sized CAS card features the heart stamp from the Hero Arts “Stamp Your Story – Brush” set along with a greeting from the “Sealed With a Kiss” set from Paper Pretties (both no longer available). The texture stamp behind the heart was unmarked and was stamped off to keep it subtle.

Gina K Designs Soft Stone ink and Edible Eggplant card stock was used (not black as it appears in the photo!!) along with Blackberry Bliss ink from Stampin’ Up.

Goodbye Sassy Cheryl’s – Snowman Wiper Card (and some other sites to find digital stamps)

Happy New Year!

Digital stamps are images you download and print from your computer to use on your cards/projects. You can color them (just like with traditional line art image stamps), but since they are digital, you can also size them to suit your needs.

The snowman on the wiper card above is a digital image from an online shop called Sassy Cheryl’s (that, sadly, just closed down). What I loved about the images on that site (besides that I thought they were adorable) is that most were also available as pre-colored illustrations so if you didn’t want to color the images yourself, you could just print them in color and use them as is. The image used on the card above is the pre-colored version of “Fa-la-la-la Snowman” and was “traced and cut” with my Silhouette electronic die cutting machine. And while this site is no longer operational, there are lots of other companies/shops that offer digital stamps (some pre-colored).

Etsy is a great place to begin looking.

The digital paper I used is called “Snowflake Background – Snowy Paper” by SBdigitalDesigns from Etsy. The “Festive Mini Expressions – Warmest Wishes” die from Creative Expressions was used for the pop-up greeting.

The following sample (previously posted here) shows how the wiper element works on my snowman card above and features another of Sassy Cheryl’s designs called Once Upon a Star Santa.

I colored this image myself and used a reindeer image from the “Reindeer” stamp and die cut set (#657780) from Hero Arts/Sizzix (retired) in place of the star in the original design.

CAS Hanukkah Card

CAS Hanukkah Card

This is a Clean and REALLY Simple card. Maybe too simple???

I saw this “Happy Hanukkah” stamp set from Lawn Fawn and really liked the whimsical menorah image. Are we allowed to just stamp an image and a greeting and then mat it and call it done? LOL!! I needed to make a bunch of these to hold gift cards/monetary gifts, and my MISTI made it a breeze.

The mat and ink are both Gina K Designs Blue Denim, but as often happens, my blue paper and ink look different in photos but the same in real life. Hmmm…

Winter Flowers

Winter Flowers

This card features stamps from the “Winter Flowers” stamp set by Simon Says Stamp.

I heat embossed the images in Hero Arts Copper embossing powder on black card stock and colored them with Prismacolor Pencils and a Dove Blending Pen. I am honestly not sure how I feel about this as it is awfully dark. I was trying to use traditional red and green, but I think it might have needed lighter colored pencils? I did think it was cool that the colored pencils actually showed up on the black; I was expecting to need to put white pencil or ink down first (and I did not need to). Anyway, I also purchased the “Spring Flowers” set which is similar in style, and I think I will try this technique again with lighter colors.

The mat is “Copper” card stock from Cardstock Warehouse’s Starstream Collection with an ivory card base. The Merry Christmas stamp is from the “Sentimental Holidays” set (retired?) from Gina K Designs.

While I still had the embossing supplies out and the stamps on my MISTI, I decided to make a few simple thank you notes.

The thank you stamp was from the “Wonderful Words I” set (retired?) from Stampin’ Up. There were long lines/tails at the beginning and end of the words that I masked off for this card.

The card based is “Ocean Tides” from Papertrey Ink. It’s hard to see in the photo, but I added texture to the stamped panel with Gina K Designs Whisper Amalgam Ink and the GKD Gauze background stamp.
