Layered Christmas Poinsettia

As I mentioned in my last post, Day 1 of the Holiday Card Workshop 2022 focused on die cutting, and the second lesson was called “Layers of Die-Cuts” taught by Dawn Woleslagle.

I used Gina K Designs Cherry Red and Christmas Pine card stock along with Cranberry Tart and Christmas Pine ink and an unmarked die set to create my poinsettia. I added some ManGo Mini Prills to the center.

I also used the Stampin’ Up “Subtle” embossing folder and the die and a stamp from the “Merry Stamp & Cut” set from Hero Arts.

Faux Laser Cut Christmas Tree

I recently took the Holiday Card Workshop 2022 and really enjoyed using the techniques and inspiration to create a bunch of holiday cards. I had been suffering from a serious case of “lack of mojo-itis” (and limited time), and this was just what the doctor ordered! I focused on the techniques for each of the classes and kept the “finishing” of the cards pretty simple. And I did not stress if I only got to one of the two lessons each day. It’s supposed to be fun, right?!

Day 1 focused on die cutting, and the first lesson was called “Faux Laser Cut Cards” taught by Jennifer McGuire. You need two dies for this technique; the tree die came from the “Christmas Tree Shaker Die” set from Cheery Lynn Designs, and the second die was the “Flourish Vine Die” from Gina Marie Designs (no longer available?). I know the vine is not “Christmas-y, but I am trying to limit my purchases for this class so I used what I had!

I used Gina K Designs Christmas Pine ink and card stock. The greeting was from the “Merry Tree” mini set, also from GKD.

Father’s Day Tuxedo Card with More Printable Sentiment Strips

I am soooo thankful for all the talented card makers out there in blogland who share their creations for inspiration. I had a BUNCH of cards I needed to make with limited time to do it, and my mojo has taken an extended vacation! My card today is a CASE (almost exact!) of this card I had seen and admired a bit ago and saved for just this situation. Thanks Karen!

I used my We R Memory Keepers 1-2-3 Punch Board to create the bowtie. All the other parts of the tuxedo were cut with my trimmer or scissors (no dies or patterns).

I added texture to the jacket by embossing the panel with a scrap of wallpaper (thanks Bonnie!) and my die cutting machine. I was able to get a nice, deep impression by using an embossing mat along with the plates normally used to emboss. The Darice 5×7 Argyle embossing folder was used on the vest.

The card stock (black, white, and kraft) and the adhesive faux pearls were all by Recollections.

In a recent post, I shared a birthday sentiment sheet I created for use with a sentiment strip die by Alina Craft. The greeting on this card was from another sheet (mixed greetings) that I created.

The sentiment on the inside was made with stamps from the “Celebrate with Style” set by Gina K Designs (retired) and from the “Birthday” set from Photoplay.

Scribble Flowers Slim Line Mother’s Day Card

This slim line card features the “Slim Square Window Panel” Die from Creek Bank Creations along with dies from the “Spellbinders Classic Squares” (large and small) sets to create the layered squares in the window openings. These were cut from water color paper; I thought the thickness allowed the monotone layers to stand out a bit better.

The layers for the Scribble Flower Die cuts from Creek Bank Creations (no longer available?) were cut from GKD Edible Eggplant card stock and a sheet from the Recollections Purple Passions pack. The die cut highlighting the greeting is the “Antique Leaf Label” from Memory Box.

The greeting is from the “Spring Sentiment Stamp” Set (Creek Bank Creations) and was stamped with Gina K Designs WIld Lilac ink. The inside sentiment is from the “Beautiful Blizzard” set (retired) from Stampin’ Up.

This 8 7/8″ x 3 5/8″ card fits in a regular business size envelope. If you wish to use a We R Memory Keepers envelope punch to create your own envelope, start with a 10 1/8″ square and make initial punch/score at 3 1/4″.
