Holiday Gift Card Holders

Holiday Gift Card Holders

Santa Gift Card Holder xDSCN7428

I made several different Gift Card Holder designs for the Rolling Green Holiday Boutique.

The first one (shown above) was made with a Silhouette design by Lori Whitlock called “Santa Pocket Gift Card Holder” (design ID #71479).  I used red, green, black, and white Recollections card stock along with Gina K sandy Beach.  I included 2 of these gift card holders in each pack.

This next set was made with paper from the Recollections Christmas packs called “Cozy Lodge” and “City Sidewalks” along with the Recollections Christmas Red and Green.

The rectangular pockets are from the Silhouette file by Lori Whitlock called “Library Pocket and Gift Card Holder” (design ID# 4215).  The one with the scalloped top is the pocket from the Santa file above.

Hanukkah Gift Card Holders

This last set of gift card holders was made with digital paper I purchased from Etsy.  One set is called “Hanukkah Digital Journaling Cards” by  Oshrat Koren (HERE).  The other set is called “Hanukkah Digital Scrapbook Kit” also by Oshrat Koren (HERE); I used the cover sheet of this set.  In addition to the digital paper, I used Gina K Honey Mustard, Turquoise Sea, and Powder Blue card stock.

There was a white panel on the back of each of these pockets with a place to write the “TO and FROM” info.

Die Cut Golfing Santa

(Inside text:  Wishing you every happiness this Holiday Season and throughout the coming year!)

I’m still trying to get caught up with some of my holiday project posts.

This holiday golf scene was created using cut files from the “Father’s Day Mega Pack” SVG Kit from  svgcuts and the “Santa – design#1513” cut file from the Silhouette store.  I cut all the pieces with my Silhouette and paper pieced the scene together.  I used the Darice 5×7 Dots embossing folder for the background to create a golfball-like pattern.  The greeting is from the Gina K Designs “Sentimental Holidays” stamp set (retrired?) and was stamped with Gina K Christmas Pine ink.  The inside text was computer generated. (The card is 5×7.)

The card stock I used was Gina K Christmas Pine and Sandy Beach, Bazzill (textured) Avalance and Blackbird, red from the Recollections Jewel Card Stock paper pack, and scraps of gray from my stash (from Recollections single sheets on clearance; no name on label).  The putting green and vertical banner were cut from digital paper from a pack (HERE) containing “Green Textured Digital Paper” by thepaperpegasus shop on etsy.

I have been searching for a mid-weight card stock to use for my card bases.  The 65lb card stock is too flimsy for a card this size and with this much paper piecing and layers.  The 110 or 120 lb card stock makes a nice card but is so heavy and almost always makes it necessary to add extra postage when the cards are 5×7 – even when there are minimal layers.  For this card, I tried the Neenah 80 lb Cover Stock in solar white.  I found it at staples in the “Neenah 80lb Astrobrights Texture Premium Cardstock” pack, but a ream of just the white can be found on Staples.com.  It was a nice weight and was sturdy enough for this card, but it has a rough surface with a faint stripe pattern on it (which is hard to see in photo above).

I did like it for a change, but I will continue to look for an affordable 80lb cover stock with a smoother surface.

A Day Without Golf… Jr. Legal Pad Cover

A Day Without Golf… Jr. Legal Pad Cover

Here is another notepad cover design I created.

The sentiment (author unknown) is a custom made stamp from RubberStamps.net.  The image is an Art Impressions stamp called “Earl.”   I stamped the sentiment and image on white card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with Copic Markers (club and ball: C4, C2, YG97; hair: W5, W7; face: E50, E53, E71; clothes: E15, E17, E18, E19, E53, E55, E57, E59, E44, E47, E49, C4).

The cover was made with white card stock.  Then I created a decorative panel and adhered it to the front.  The plaid card stock is by 7 Gypsies from the Antiquaries Postale Collection: Post (Stock Number: 19429).  The solid card stock is Gina K Charcoal Brown, Bazzill Burning Umber, and Co’re dinations Chocolate Mousse.

The Jr. Legal Pad (5″ x 8″) was purchased at Staples.

Wine & Cheese Thank You Note – Chalkboard Technique

Wine & Cheese Thank You Note – Chalkboard Technique

Wine and Cheese Chalkboard Technique wwDSCN7310.jpg

I have been having one heck of a time trying to get my creative juices flowing!  I had the same problem last year around and after Christmas, although this dry spell seems to be lasting longer.  Sigh….

Anyway, we recently received a case of wine as a gift, and I needed to make a thank you note.  I saw this Wine and Cheese stamp and loved the sketched look of the image.

inkadinkado wine and cheese

However, once I got it home, I wasn’t quite sure what to do with it!  The image is pretty big which didn’t leave much room for much else on my A2 sized card, and I had trouble deciding on colors and paper.  After MANY attempts…..

The Wine and Cheese stamp is by Inkadinkado, and the greeting stamp is by Recollections.  I stamped the images on black card stock with Gina K Designs White Pigment ink.  Then I lightly sponged some of the white ink over the panel to create a “dirty” chalkboard look.  I like the idea of this image looking like it was drawn on a chalkboard, but a lot of the detail was lost with the thick, pigment ink.  I stamped 12 panels trying to get a cleaner image.  No luck.  (My original thought was to stamp the image to look like it was drawn with pencil.  Surprisingly, I have so much ink and none in the right shade of gray!  Ugh!!!)

The printed paper is by My Mind’s Eye from the “Wild Asparagus” paper pad.  I used more black card stock for mats and a scrap of Gina K “Faded Brick” to add a bit more color.

It’s not exactly what my brain “saw” when I started this project, but at least I finally got to the end with a finished card!  I have another idea in my head using the same stamps that I am anxious to try. Hopefully, it will work out, and I will be sharing it shortly….
