Folded Tree Sketch Card
I don’t use sketches all that often, but when I do, I wonder why I don’t use them more! They are really helpful for unique layout ideas (I tend to create a lot of “matted rectangles centered on the card base” kinds of cards) and for ideas on ways to use some of the patterned paper I have accumulated. The above layout is based on the following sketch:

Here is another sample with different paper.
This card also features a folded Christmas Tree that was made with a 6 inch semicircle. You can see how to make one HERE.
Below are a few links to some sites with card sketches in case you are looking for some layout ideas.

The patterned paper used for these cards was all from American Crafts (#320370 Holly Berries, #341310 Music, and #341345). I also used Core’dinations “Kraft Small White Dot” card stock along with Bazzill “Butter Mints” for the panels behind the trees and “Pomagranate Splash” for the card bases. I cut the stars with a Fiskars Thick Punch and added the speckles with a Tim Holtz marker spritzer tool and a Walnut Stain distress marker.
Thanks for checking out my card project!

So beautiful and a lovely choice of papers for the tree. I did a few similar to this myself.

That tree fold is so pretty. I ought to try it sometime. I agree that sketches can be so helpful. You might be interested that Mojo Monday has restarted up on VerveGirl’s personal blog. Verve went out of business but it looks like she is on several design teams now. Have a great day!
