Photo Sympathy Card
(I made this card in May and am just posting photo now…)
Sadly, my Aunt Carol passed away on this past Mother’s Day after battling cancer for the past few years. Her never wavering positive attitude and fighting spirit was truly inspirational.
She and my uncle and cousin loved Gettysburg and went there often. I made this card for them with a photo (used with permission) of a Path near the Virginia Memorial in Gettysburg National Park (photo by Marc Andre). They recognized the scene immediately and said it was one of their favorite spots.
I knew I wanted to make a Gettysburg themed card for them and thought this scene would be the perfect backdrop, but I was not quite sure how to incorporate it into a card design. I didn’t want to cover the image, so I opted to keep the card simple by just embossing the beautiful sentiment and frame over it. The frame is from the “Inspiration Mosaic” stamp set (one of my favorites) and the sentiment is from the “A Beautiful Life” set which are both by Gina K Designs. The images were stamped with versamark ink and heat embossed with Gina K gold embossing powder. The photo panel (photo printed on white card stock) was mounted on Gina K Honey Mustard card stock.
My Aunt was a fellow card maker, and I enjoyed sharing my hobby with her. She will be missed.
Thanks for checking out my card post.
