Floral Thank You Note

Inspiration comes from many places.  Even bathrooms!  I recently visited a friend who just moved into a new home, and when I was getting the tour, I fell in love with the color combination and design of her shower curtain!  (I took a photo of a portion of it.)

The floral image from the Stampin’ Up “Avant-Garden” set as well as the SU Mint Macaron ink that I recently purchased immediately came to mind, and I used those to create my card.

The flowers were first stamped with the Mint Macaron ink and then stamped again (slightly off-set) with Stampin’ Up Blackberry Bliss.  To add the darker detail to the centers of each flower, I applied Gina K Edible Eggplant ink to the stamp by swiping the corner of the ink pad directly onto the stamp (as if I were drawing lines from the center and out a bit onto each petal.)  I would have used a water-based marker to add the darker shade, but I didn’t have a color that worked.  I used the Edible Eggplant for the stamen as well.  I created a mask of the flower and then went on to stamp the stems and leaves.

For the stems and leaves, I used stamps from the Stampin’ Up “Terrific Tulips” set.  (Of all the leaf stamps I have in my collection, I was surprised to find I had nothing similar to the ones on the shower curtain.  I didn’t even see anything online so I went with what I had!)  I inked up the stamps with the Mint Macaron ink and then randomly swiped my Spectrum Aqua “Moss” marker over parts of the inked stamp before stamping the images.  Again, my water-based marker colors are limited, and in hindsight, I probably chose a color that is more green than the color I was going for.  (It is really overpowering the mint color!)

The greeting is from the Stampin’ Up “What I Love” set and was stamped with GK Edible Eggplant ink. The card stock I used is “Soft Stone” from Papertrey Ink and “Edible Eggplant” from Gina K Designs.
